the factory bench seat in my 78 reg cab is rotted out falling apart uncomfortable and just plain old looks like sh@t. i want to replace it with buckets and a center console (i want some damn cup holders lol) one thing ive noticed is that the seats and console in my parents 95 gmc sierra are almost the exact same colour as the seat and interior trim in my truck anp plentyful in any scrap yard. now can i make theese fit with a small amount of modification/fabrication or am i better to pull somthing out of a newer ford
I have some like that in my 77, it wasn't real simple and easy but far from impossible.. I had to cut the under seat frames down a little to get them low enough and then built a frame out of some flat stock that connected the two seats and used the original holes to bolt it all down except for the console, had to make a couple new bolt holes for it and they went thru the flat stock and floorboard. Actually worked out and looked as good as they were comfortable to sit on..
I would think if you are a real Ford guy you would use Ford seats not Government Motors seats...? There are several options for you in your seat replacement that will directly bolt in. Maybe a 80-97 F-series bench with a flip down center console or the 40/20/40 with a center console that also flips up & down with cup-holders...? Or better yet, just get you a set of these?
But I have a buddy that used a set of leather bucket seats and center console out of a late 90's Yukon (not sure why he chose Yukon) but they are power seats with seat heater. He put them in a 79 Bronco and they look great. Not sure how much fab work was required...?
40-20-40 out of an f150, the center folds down for cup holders and storage. It bolted right into my 94 bronco, I know it's not a 78/79 but it's an example of a ford seat.
