Would someone please post a picture or schematic of the engine compartment MOUNTING BRACKET for the reverse or back-up switch for a '67-72 F100, please? I've determined that the switch WAS mounted on a bracket attached to the steering column in the engine bay, but have only been able to find obscured pictures of the BRACKET. PO cut a lot out of the truck, and here behind the wall in SoCal it helps to let people know you intend to move in reverse. The wiring is all there, just need a decent picture or template drawing to fab a bracket up from. Be nice if you could include a few measurements, but I can probably figure it out from a good picture. Also, if you know of a catalog I can buy the bracket out of, that'd be just as good. I have not been to the scrap yard to look for anything yet. My switch is the type that opens when the automatic shift rod moves to the R position, closes when you put it in P or D. As all the wiring is in the engine bay, I'm looking to fab a bracket instead of trying to put a switch in the tranny itself. Mine is a swapped 460/C6 combo in a '68 F100. If it's easier to explain how to install a switch in the tranny, I can do that too.
Thanks,
Joe
Ok, if your truck was an AUTOMATIC truck from the beginning, then the reverse lights were part of the NSS that mounted on the column, under the dash(before it went through the firewall).
If it was originally a 3spd on the column, then the switch was mounted in the engine compartment side of the firewall and worked when the lever was moved into R. My '64 Galaxie was 3 on the tree, so I can show you what it looked like(and likely very similar to a truck).
