Transfer Case Fluid Info
The truck has 66k miles and winter is coming. Figured it's time to do the under truck work like the transfer case and axles since I'm pretty sure they've never been done before. Looked in the owners manual and see it's 2 quarts (64ozs) to fill the case. Run the truck around to warm it up and get home to do the job. Pop the top plug off and expected the typical small dribble since everyone x case I've done, they fill it to the top of the fill plug. With this one I get a lot more than a dribble. Get the bottom plug off, it really pours out and I think, that looks like a lot more than two quarts. Measure out what's in the pan and it's 3+ quarts. Actually 105 ozs. WTF?!?
I go and ask my neighbor (previous owner) and he never had that stuff serviced. I bought the truck from him with less that 28k miles. So what do you think, put it the way it was or go by the manual??

The neighbor had it sitting for long spells so I'm kinda figuring that it either leaked into the X case during those long sits prior to the rebuild or the rear main seal is leaking into it now. I'll check it in a few weeks to see if it goes above the fill plug.
