My studying rotella is quite good. I run it in my truck, 2 older pickups, and 2 race cars.

Syn rotella is good. Just the reg leaves some to be desired.
I had an article written by a chemical/oil engineer. I loaned it out to a friend that is a gm of the parts house my shop uses.i need to get it back.It Analized 6 oils in a blind test.the results were not what one would have expected to say the least.
I just wanted to get the most bang for my buck cause none of this stuff is cheap.

I like Shaeffer's 7000 15W40, the T6 was shearing down on my oil tests but the Shaeffer's does not shear down. Ask Joey who builds the HPOP's a lot of us use.

There's a dealer in town here, I'm lucky. I think if you went to their website and do a search for a dealer in your area. Its $20 a gallon if you buy it by the case, there is six gallons in a case. Not that expensive unless you have to have it shipped to you. I also use their trans oil, just like BTS and John Woods do. Also, free oil analysis!

I don't know where you read that analysis Aaron, but the Rotella 15/40 is some of the better oil out there. It also still has a higher zinc level compared to most of the newer oils. When its recommended and used by higher hp engine builders, there is no doubt in my mind its a good oil. My truck used a qt of motorcraft b/w oil changes. It uses none of the rotella. All trucks are different, but that is how mine acts. I know a guy that runs nothing but rotella in his older 7.3. 420k or so now, and still going strong.

Jim Rose (who builds the injectors a lot of guys on here run) recommends that you run the cheapest diesel rated oil you can get and just change it every 3,000 miles. For me it is Rotella 15w40. I get it at the local Walmart for about $13 a gallon and dump it every 3k miles. I do a lot of short trips anyway so I think the shorter OCI is a better idea anyway.

I can't say anything bad about Shaffers though. We used that at the farm where I worked growing up. Good stuff for sure.

I went to their website last night and what do you know, there are three dealers right around me. Two parts stores in the same town and a logging supply place. I have always used Rotella in every diesel I,ve ever owned. I've always been told it was one of the better oils, and it's affordable. I think it's like Darin says, every truck is different, and every one uses their trucks different.

Shaeffer's 7000 is a syn blend and their 9000 is a full syn. I read an article once on the T6 and they claimed the T6 is not a full syn and it was false advertising by Shell claiming that it was.

The oil debate continues!!
