OK so, a few months ago I topped of my tank (as usual) and noticed it still read full a few days later, thought that was wierd (my truck actually -does- get great fuel milage so I didn't pay it much attention as I wasn't going very far from day to day) and then a few days later I ran out of fuel, and the gauge was -still- reading full.
So obviously theres an issue here, but I was curious to see if anyone else has experienced this problem?
My guess is that the float might have gotten hung up, since normally when full guages quit working (in my experience) they read empty, not full
There are no other issues with my truck, so I figured I would ask here before I tear into anything...like the tank...
Yea I'm looking into the hutch mod before I drop the tank, it seems my thinking on the issue though aligns with yours, hopefully I can get a bit more resolution before I start to look into it though.
Had the same issue. I disconnected both sets of battery cables for 15 minutes and reconnected them. The gauge reset itself. From what I read, this is a common issue on our trucks??
