So last Saturday I'm at work and get an urgent text message from my wife that she'd been "hit" out a country road on the way to work. I of course thinking the worst, run out of a meeting I was sitting in and call her; she was ok, shaken up a bit from the impact out of nowhere. She said she was driving along and the mirror just exploded along with something hitting the windshield. She texted me the attached photos of her truck, a 2001 F150 Supercrew, that we spent a pretty good sum of money a Buckstop bumper to keep the deer out of her windshield. The bumper works great when the deer cooperate! <O</O <O</O
The windshield, front fender, driver side mirror and rear door on the other hand are not so good to the tune of just over $5000 according to the insurance adjuster and there is evidence to prove it. <V</V<O</O <O</O
The good news is my wife is fine, she is driving the Excursion now (or the beast as she calls it) and the little blue truck as we call it will be fixed in a few weeks with a new mirror, door, windshield, etc, and some fresh paint on that side. <O></O> <O</O
I know this isn't a Superduty but since I generally post here, this where it went. Have a great weekend all! <O></O> <O</O

Well good thing it wasn't the superduty. Just kidding. Good thing nobody other then the deer got hurt and not more damage. A friend of mine has a 91 F350 and while driving an antelope ran in front of there truck damaged most of the front clip.

I have hit 2 deer in my driving time so far.
Very happy that she is ok.
My first was a 5 point in snow so I was going slow
and I saw him hit the brakes and he got the grill
on a 79 Bronco. All passengers were ok deer got up
shook it off and ran away. The second one was not so
lucky it hit me in a F250. Yes It hit me.ran right into
the driver side wheel and fender.I backed up to put
lights on it. Grabbed a leg to get it out of the road
just as the cops showed up. They got out and I asked.
So what do I do now? Just about then it got up and
staggered off into the woods to die. Cop said that if
I wanted or needed he could do a report. I said skip it.
Not anything that a replacement fender and some
paint would not fix.
I am very happy that I have not hit on at full speed
head on.
Like I said very happy your wife is ok.
Here are some shots from a few months ago with the one of our other trucks that has the Bucktop Bumper. We have one on her F150, on the F350 and the Excursion. The two larger trucks have winches.

my uncle hit a horse on the downside of a hill with his 91 mustang gt back in 91 and totaled the car..the owner of the horse paid for everything..because this wasn't the first time his horse got out according to the local sheriff
The bumpers are fine, they've never been touched by a deer; heck I'd just like for the deer to cooperate and not keep running into the sides of our trucks. It happened to me in the F350 about 6 months ago. It just ran right into the driver side of the truck about a mile from home. Threw the deer back across the road to the fog line of the opposite travel lane. I got out, looked at the damage to the bed (1800 that time) and called the highway patrol to notify DOT to pickup the remains. Unfortunately the laws in Cali don't allow us to keep what we hit.... darnit, we'd have plenty of sausage and jerky from these last two deer strikes.

Thanks all, Cindy is fine, as I said at that moment she was shaken up but calmed down after awhile. Blood pressure was up again when we got the adjusters quote for 5K, but that goes with the turf. It was close to being totalled, their cutoff was 6500. I would have said yes and bought it back and fixed it myself. We've had that truck since it was new, it was the first one we bought together right before we married, so there is history and it would be hard to let go.
Appreciate the kind words.
Regards - Mark

A friend of mine from the Highway Patrol says they use them on all of their cruisers; he swears by them. I'm going to give them a try since we have a recurring problem.
