Buying a new truck tomorrow...
I'll be buying a new truck tomorrow... found a dealer that has 30 trucks that fit what I'm looking for, all with 6.0L engines!
I've done a prelim look through their online inventory and narrowed my search down to 6. I know to check for EOT/ECT deltas at operating temp and FICM and battery volts. What other things can/should I look for using my SGII?
What tell-tale things should I look for under the hood that a gauge can't show me? I'll also be reading through the articles in the tech folder on buying new 6.0L trucks...

Check for puking and discoloration at the degas bottle. Also check for proper A/c operation. Defrost only operation indicates a vacum system problem. Check tranny fluid, should be bright red. Check maintenance records and above all make sure that OEM filters were used and changed on schedule. If you go to the tech folder I think Bismic has a pretty comprehensive check list.

Look at the head bolts/studs. If it has studs in it, they would be visible. Studs will have an Allen key hole in the center and a 12 point nut on them. Bolts will be just that, a bolt. It would be a healthy bonus to get one that's studded already. Look at the bellhousing for oil. Ficm voltage also. Look for green coolant. I wouldn't mention the studs if they're installed already, but if anything else is found, I'd b bringing it up for a price break. Good luck
