Over the weekend while driving to Reno, In my 2000 F250 PSD I had an issue where sometimes It would just start to Surge. It also felt like I lost all power for a minute and then it would come right back. I replaced the whole Peddle Assembly back in 2009 when I bought the truck due to the fact that the truck would loose power. This time it seems ok then all the sudden will just jerk forward like it got a whole bunch of fuel at one time. I also noticed this when I was driving on Interstate 80 it was kind of doing the same thing. I am wondering if it is the same issue or something else possiblibly. I have a Thottle Postition Sensor on order, I just wanted to be sure before I headed to Santa Cruz for the weekend.
The truck is throwing no codes and and the Oil was changed on Friday before I left to Reno the only difference is that I put rotella in it instead of the Delo I normally put in.
New oil type? IPR is highly suspect. I just went through this after I replaced my injectors. My old IPR got a taste of fuel and air in the oil and went on the rampage (uber-throttle). Luckily, I had my engine analyzer recording when it happened, so I saw precisely how it happened. I replaced my oil because that's what you do with new sticks, and I replaced my IPR because it was old and flakey. While the TPS can cause issues, it is electrical and pretty darned reliable... where the ICP sensor and the IPR are electro-mechanical and come in contact with the oil. It's likely the oil will work itself out and the problem will subside/disappear, but I don't recommmend hopping back and forth between oil types. The injector gurus recommend synthetic oil for better injector life and the tuning guys recommend an oil weight of 15-40 for better tuning consistency. Most synthetics are 5-40, but the really expensive synthetics are 15-40... choose your compromise.
Tick..tick...tick.... I'm just waiting for somebody to chime in and point out the err of my information.
