I have a 2006 Ford F-250 Super Duty diesel crew cab, and want to get a trailer to collect veggie oil in. I want a small trailer, and have found some on Craigslist pretty cheap that seem to fit my needs. But I want to be able to run a small pump to transfer the oil from the collection barrels to 55 gallon drums that I will have on the trailer.
My question is, what sort of power needs should the pump have for me to run off of the truck's power while it is parked (but engine running)?
I would mount a battery on the trailer along with the pump. Then the 12v from the truck could keep it charged but not have to handle all of the load.

be sure to fuse the wires at the battery on the trailer. I use a 20 or 30amp self-resetting circut breaker when mounting a coach battery. if it ever draws too much current it will reset on its own without having to chase down a blown fuse.
creative wiring allows you to run all the wires to a post on the trailer and protect the whole works with one circut breaker.
