well i finally drove my 1969 ford f250, for some reason my brake pedel went all the way to the floor? for some reason all my brake fuild leaked out on the 1 of the 2 reserivor? does anyone know to how to fix this problem? if it did leak how come i don't see it in my garage?
Is the cap leaking if so just bend the clip down a little more and it'll snug it up. If its the lines I whould recomend Flare fitting wrenches so u don't strip the fittings on the lines and tighten them. Check all the lines and connections and also look for leaks coming from inside the drums from the wheel cylinders. Also make sure you bleed the system when all checks are done starting with the furthest wheel from the master cylinder and work your way closer. Hope this helps
Look at the back side of all your backing plates, underneath, behind drums. If one looks wet, there's your culprit. Bad wheel cylinder, actually called slave cylinder. It's a slave to the master. Cylinder, that is. They have to leak very badly before the fluid will show on the ground where you park and then it will be on the back side of the tire. Your brakes shoes are ruined at that point (ANY LEAK ruins them) and the drum should be turned to clean, new metal. It's just about impossible to clean them enough to be used again safely.
I know, you did. But it wasn't real clear how easy it is to spot a leaking wheel cylinder, and the other replies made it sound like something else was more likely the problem. No disrespect but it sounds like the poster may not know very much about brakes so I tried to make it a little more clear for him.
