Yes, they are shift on the fly, but they recommend easing off the go-pedal when switching between tunes.
Custom tunes are so much better than canned tunes. You won't regret it it you go that route. Most of the canned tunes are only designed for stock injectors. If you go with custom tunes, they are tuned for your injectors, plus many of the tuner can live tune your truck which means the tunes are tweaked for your truck, and several of the tuners offer free lifetime upgrades & updates. So if you add more go-fast parts, they will update the tunes on your chip for no charge.
