76 F-250 build

Finally getting around to starting my build thread. Been lurking and learning around here for 1 1/2 years. Been working on truck for about 1 year. Health problems has slowed progress the past three months, so I figured it would be a good time to start my thread. I recently retired about a year ago. Thought this would be great to finally get some work done on truck. Then the health problems started. Heart first, had to get two stents installed. Got that fixed, then my neck started giving me problems. Long story short, just had neck surgery to fuse 4 cervicals fused together, along with getting rid of bone spurs and arthritis. Neck brace for the next two months. Have learned a ton from reading through this forum. Everybody has been very helpful answering questions. Had a F-100 4x4 in 1978 and always loved that truck. Have owned nothing but ford trucks over the years. Any way, I post some pics of progess so far. Bear with me as I can be computer illiterit at times.

That looks like a solid truck you have there, it will clean up nicely. Hope your health problems are behind you and good luck.

Looks like you started with a great, solid truck. Hopefully, you will heal up and have no more health problems and can get it done. Good luck and God bless. Thanks for sharing your pictures.

Posting progress pic's. Frame stripped down. Frame sandblasted. Frame painted with 2 coats epoxy primer and 2 coats of Sherwin-Williams chassis paint, semi-gloss black. Can anyone tell me how to put text between pictures? Thanks

Made some progress this weekend. Got the rear brakes done. All new parts, including bearings and drums. Next project is front brakes.

Just post the IMG code in the text, instead of posting it as an attachment.

looks great, I priced redoing my rear brakes and the disc brake conversion in the rear was actually a hair cheaper, but you loose the parking brake.

anyways I use Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket I copy and paste the image code, then simply type between the codes. like soo.
one of my fords

Hey all. Been meaning to bring this up but just keep forgetting. My vin# on both the door and door jamb is F26YRA03333. However, on the frame in both places, the vin# is stamped F36YRA03333. What the heck. It's a highboy frame so I know nobody swapped everything to make it a 250 from a 350. Any thoughts or idea's are welcome.

According to the VIN on your frame your truck doesn't exist.
Here's how it translates
F36= 1979 F350 4WD pickup
Y=360 cid 2 bbl V8 engine
R= San Jose assy plant
A03,333=1976 model year consecutive serial number
AO3,333=1978 model year consecutive serial number
Go and double/tripple check the frame VIN. First year for F350 4WD is '79, last year the 360 (Y) was available in Ford trucks was '76, if the serial number is A"zero"3,333
the s/n falls in the 1976 model year, if its A "Letter O" 3,333 then that falls in the 1978 model year.
Really confusing.
Maybe the frame was mis-stamped at the plant. Everything else would point to the correct VIN as being F26YRA03333

It sure is confusing Mike. When I got the truck, I decoded it just as you did. Frame must have been stamped wrong in San Jose. I know it's a 76. Frame is stamped just as I mentioned.
