glow plugs getting bad?
Sometimes I wait for the wait to start light to go out, flip the key off and redo then wait about 30 seconds to start.
Heres a simple video showing how a glow plug works and the longer you wait to start, the warmer the engine would be.

Do you have a block heater? Works wonders for keeping it easy to start.
When I first got mine, it was about -35 and it DID NOT like starting in that.. I cringe everytime I think back at how she sounded.
THEN I discovered she had a block heater later that day.

I did the jumper cable test on all of mine while I had them out to do the injector cups. I think that's the best way to test them, because the resistance is so low, making it difficult to accurately measure with a DMM.
The glow test was instructional for me, I realized they need more than just a little time to work. I let them run a little longer on cooler mornings now.
