After stripping my '51's door hardware, I find I have a bad driver door latch (slider notch is rounded off) and to compound the issue, it's not a 5* latch (no key) and it never had one! Anybody have one they wish to part with as I'd like to put the doors back together (correctly)
MACs, Dennis C and Classic Haulers ain't showin' no luv!
Bonus Built door latches are not reproduced, as far as I know. If the latch mechanism you have works fine otherwise, but just has a worn latch bolt, you can weld that up and reshape the end so it's good as new.
Also, if your doors are not 5 Star Extra now, you won't be able to use the lock cylinder for the new locking latch unless you weld in a support inside.
You can see the round tube support bracket in the picture below. That's the support bracket for the lock cylinder.
I've rebuilt a few latches that have been worn out. They're easy to do. I just recently rebuild a 5 Star Extra (driver's side) door latch. If you need guidance, take a look through this photo album that I've created: Repair 1 pictures by modelking1 - Photobucket

Ilya.. It is a 5 Star door (and even had a lock in it). But a PO must have swapped out the mechanism, as it (the latch) does not have the lock mechanism and it was not cut off. I know I can repair the existing one, but I would rather have a working driver lock, not a "fake" one (like it has now )
P.S. I can put it back together (after repairing the non-lock mech). But there is a lot more to take apart on a 5 star door to put the correct one in - in the future
This won't help you... I have a 5 Star Extra driver's door latch, but it's missing the locking mech parts like you need.
Ilya.. Is the lock mech. mirrored in construction, just mirrored in placement (i.e., the lock bar is the same on each side, just put in reversed) or .. you never really paid that much attention?
If it is just mirrored in placement, then I would be interested in what you have (if it's for sale ) The I can look for a pass. or driver mech. to swipe the lock.
You know, John, I never paid too much attention to whether the lock is mirrored or not. Unfortunately, I don't have a complete 5 Star Extra driver's side lock mech to compare to the regular locking passenger side mech.
Is the '52 the same mech.? rpm-motorsports has one for $75+ship on the 'bay. Methinks it's highway robbery , but I'd like to get this done right and not have to tear it apart later.
I think ive got a lock and latch setup for the drivers side 5* truck.
you need the lock cylinder as well or just the internals?
i ended up purchasing a vent window frame for my 53 from RPM the part was good and were good to deal with. I had 3 passenger side vents but couldnt find a drivers side and of course i needed it right then.
RPM Motorsports are good. I bought a crank from them when I had the 215 rebuilt. The first one they shipped came is cracked because they didn't package it right. A phone call to them with emailed pictures took care of the issue. They found another crankshaft and sent it out no charge.
At $75, the locking driver's side mech is a good price. I normally get $100+ship for one whenever I have them.

Just need the internals, have new cylinder. I'm ready, name your price and how you prefer payment. Could paypal you the $ (w/o fees - panelman taught me).
