testing batterys

Question testing batterys

when you test the batterys on a diesel don't you have to remove the cables so you are only testing one battery at a time. the service man that tested mine left them on.

Yes they have to be disconnected from each other.

Looking for a weak battery, easy home test is to try and start the motor with one battery at a time. One GOOD battery should start a 7.3, if a battery has a dead cell or is weak it won't start the motor.

i simply go to advanced auto and have them check all my batteries. My dads 2000 7.3 was starting hard and his batteries were only four years old. Brought them to advanced auto had them checked with the tester and both batteries were only putting out 230 cranking and 270 cranking. Far below their listed 850 cranking
