Hey all, I was told that i needed to replace my vacume control module so my 4x4 would work like it's suppose to. Problem being I can't find the part number anywhere to order it. I really want to fix it asap, cause winter will be here soon and I don't want to have to get in and out of the truck to engage my hubs. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks Bill
Rusy thanks, but I couldn't find a part number. Maybe I missed it, I will keep looking. I'm still wondering though if this is a common problem, or just my luck.
Yup the heater defaults to the defrost, until I plugged the vacuum line going to the solienoid. Now the heat and all works fine, I just have to get out and manually lock my hubs now. What a PITA. Since I've owned this truck, I ask myself what else would I spend my money and time on.
Also does anyone know If you can rebuild the solienoid, or do you just have to replace it. I'm asking because i'm not even really sure what it is composed of. Thanks Bill
Ya before, I plugged the lines going to the solienoid the heat would go to defrost. Ya I think the vacuum pump is fine. Reason being now the vacuum lines are plugged, my heat and all is fine. Just have to get out and manually lock my hubs. I would think that if my vacuum pump was bad, it wouldn't matter either way if I plugged the vac lines or not. Am I correct for assuming this?

Yes^^^
But you still need to Test it Cause we not down to 1 Part Yet
You Have a couple things that could cause this
Leaky Vac Line to Hubs
Leaky Hub Seal
Bad Silinoid
The Last Bad Silinoid here would Engauge 4X4 when switched but then the Heater would default to defrost at that Time so Try this
Do you have a Hand Vac Pump??? that you can Pull Vac on the Lines to test them and the Hub Seals
No unfortuneatly I don't have a vacuum pump. I do see where you are going with this though, question is there a way to check the vacuum solienoid to see if its bad?
Thanks Sean, I will try to pick one up in the morning when I get off work. That is if I ever get off work, ha ha. Still curious though if I do indeed need the vacuum solienoid what the part number is so I can research price and availability.
