Replacing cell phone screen

My son managed to smash the screen on my Commando a few weeks back, and the replacement has finally come in. I got the destroyed remains out, but the foam that sealed the touch screen to the phone case was completely destroyed in the process. I was thinking about using some RTV or rubber cement since this needs to be cushioned and waterproof, but does anyone else have a suggestion? I don't want to do this again, so I'd rather not use something that will damage anything.

Is it a touch screen?
The chemicals in sealants may interact with the electronics.
Is the foam also available?

Just googled "cell phone screen adhesive", and there's quite a bit out there.

Amazon has several choices. Most seem to come as a tape.

Hope that helps,

hj
