Okay I did the bubble test and nothing.... anyway I checked the fuel pump like you said and it filled up super fast. should i test the pressure on it?
I also double checked all my fuses and they look good as well.
The injectors make all sorts of noise when I turn the engine to run. about 30 seconds or so i think could be a minute but they make a lot of clicking for sure but I can't tell if they all are clicking or just most of them.
okay so on a whim I hooked up my block heater and now with my engine warmed up I am getting some way way different results as far as my ICP readings go..... I can't get over 400 PSI now when I try to start.
is that a hpop or HPO leak? and is there a test I can perform to verify?
Okay this is now after the IPR valve has been replaced and with the engine warmed up on my block heater:
KOEO:
IPC 0
IPV .23
IP%: 14.4
Cranking:
IPC: low 400's
IPV .5-.6 range
IP% Peaked in the 70% range
I pulled the ICP and tried to start it as well and the IPC numbers shot upto the 900's but the IPV didn't go up and IP% went up as well and still no start.
I believe this is pointing to a HPOP or HPO leak. next test is the HPO air leak test, Correct?
Anything I should be looking for specifically that the guides don't mention?
also what am I looking at cost wise if the leak is under the valves for parts to repair and since I am that far in are there any modifications I should be making on it to improve reliability?
okay so I have the valve covers off and the passenger side standpipe is 12mm which means it has been replaced, correct? the dummy plugs are both original but the o-rings are intact on both. The driver side standpipe has both 0-rings intact and look to be in good shape. I am going to get new ones but it looks like dummy plugs and standpipes are in good order and not the cause of my lack of HPO pressure. anything else I look at while I have the valve covers off? All signs seem to be pointing to HPOP now, I think.
passenger side standpipe coming off tomorrow when I get a 12mm allen. (could just 1 bad o-ring cause a big enough leak for the HPO system to not be able to build enough pressure?)
i am not sure what I should be looking for beyond the dummys and stands so any help would be awesome.
Hpop, Dummy plugs and standpipes replaced and it started right up!
Thanks to everyone that helped me along the way!
And the part highlighted in bold red is the part that likely fixed your issue, hence why your ICP readings were all over the place. It is very well known that the '03/'04 pumps are overall weaker than the '05 and up pumps. The ones I've replaced that were bad I found, if you tried to spin the gear by hand you would hit a dead spot.
M-chan,
Thanks for the quick answer.
Not that I have to worry about this having an 06 I just wanted
to know. You think that they would of upgraded the part.
Just incase I end up working on my friends 03 F250.
