I am in the process of replacing a hose on my truck and I need to move what I believe to be the CAC tube out the way. I am speaking of the black tube that sits behind the alternator and seems to route down to the outside of the truck down next to the radiator. I have loosened the top clamp, and tried by best to remove it, and no love at all! What do I need to do to get that thing out the way??

cheers,
Mine was a bear to get out as well..... just loosen the clamps good and wiggle and pull like a SOB until it comes off. I had a few choice words come out as well. The aluminum cac tube and boots from Riff Raff were a welcome addition to the truck.

Did you un-do the top clamp only? Or both the top and bottom?
If you are referring to the black plastic cold side CAC tube connection to the intake "elbow" on top of the intake, do yourself a big favour and remove the four 8mm bolts securing the "elbow" to the intake and remove it with the tube. Because if you attempt to separate the two, you will have one hell of a time trying to re-connect the two. The lower part of the tube separates relatively easily from the CAC with some wiggling and pulling the tube outward.
In my picture, the cold side is nearest the radiator. ( the one with the wording on it) Yours is the black plastic, right? And the other one, hot side, comes from turbo, behind the alternator, and down.

Which are you having trouble with?
The one that has the writing on it in the picture. It is black plastic...sits right behind the radiator.

Any chance of moving it out the way without bothering the lower side? My ratchet even with the extention was no where near long enough to allow me to loosen that bolt. Remember (from my last thread) I am trying to get at the hose setup that connects to the bottom of the Degas bottle.
Why not pull the degas bottle up and out?
less of a pain. I have removed that nasty little
!!@@#$%%^^&&* plastic thing ONCE. Put it back
on with a heat gun to warm it a bit and pop it went
back on with less fuss. But it takes more than you would
think to torque it back to the right torque number.
The one other way to get the thing out would be to
pull the air filter driver side battery and tray to get
at the clamp. That is a lot of work.

I still need to get that tube out the way so I can get to the hose I am speaking of! Ugh this is becoming a lot harder than it should, I dont have a freakin heat gun, lol.

I was just told that I would have to re-gasket that elbow if I remove it??

Just pull your air filter assembly out and you will gain the access you need to pull the black plastic cac tube out. If you want to upgrade plus save yourself the agony of working with that black plastic piece of crap then buy the aluminum version with some good cac boots from Riff Raff and be done with it. The aluminum tube is way easier to work with and you don't have to worry about it cracking on you.
This is an easy job.... just gotta wiggle the heck out of it while pulling hard away from the elbow and intercooler. There's not a lot of room but trust me it will come loose. I just swapped mine out a couple of months ago and since then I have had to remove it twice to work on my truck. I am very glad I swapped out for the aluminum tube and Riff Raff boots..... It's way easier to remove and instal and as I mentioned earlier.... no worries of air leaks from cracks like the plastic OEM one.

I will probably do that...but here I just have a time issue as I need the truck ready to roll tomorrow, lol. I definitely dont want to crack it though. I have heard the other end it a lot easier....how tough is it to get the tube back on the elbow?

For me it was way easier putting it back on then it was taking it off.
