Why did you choose an Excursion?
Same here, no good real reason to buy the biggest SUV ever made.
I defintely do not need it (already have all the vehicles I need) but:
-- the obvious, excellent looking suv
-- great price, a lot of truck for the money
-- bragging rights (sometimes)
-- not common to see an Excursion everyday at least in my area
basically bought it for the "cool" factor. Thats about it.
I will also come in handy when there's 1 foot or more of snow on the ground.
she said that she wanted a kind of station wagon, I knew that she get in love with a Q7 Audi.(a huge car, said my wife) I never said anything but thought inside: Never, No Way Ever, am I gonna pay those monthly payments nor this steelership costs)

But how to say it to a lovely woman with a strong will.......???
I took her to a import company and let her drove a 2011 Black Suburban....what should I say, she opened the rear hatch and said: WTF....is that? I said: a trunk
for all the stuff you will need when we have children.....
Of course, this Chevy wasnt acceptable, Way to expensive and no straight axles.
So I searched for an alternative car. Actually, there isnt an alternative, if you want straight axles, a ladder frame and a huge interieur space.
Those Excursion are extremely rare here in Germany, did I say RARE?
So my first way was to buy a Big Block Suburban, rip of the IFS sh@t and wrench a set of UniMog Axles under it. You get those axles here quite cheap in all versions. But while searching on the www. where I get the stuff, I did find a
2000 Excursion 4x4 V10. I jumped off the coach and say YES.....thats it.
Some calls...and 450mls later at the next weekend we were owner of our EX.
My wife loves it and will never sell it again.
At every stoplight where a Q7 stand beside us, she say always with a wicked smile: Look, Darling, what a huge Q7....and she always wonder herself, what she did likes on this small, overpaid thing.
So basically it fit the requirements for the tow rig and as a bonus had a huge covered ares for gear instead of an open bed that I'd have to spend another $700 on a cover for.
WTF,,, the keypad,,,, handy feature,,, now with three kiddos,, the foresight has paid off,,, weekly someone wants to know if I will sell it,,, we have actually looked at buying one for the future,,, but as of right now, I have 9 vehiculars!!!
YIKES,, I just had to write them down to count them!! Holy crap,,, so no more Ex's for now,, but I do have 2 F350 CC/Lariat/DRW/7.3/4x4 trucks,, so the 01 is slated for a camper shell to mimic the Ex,,, dang,, I have 4 7.3's,,, I should buy stock in Delo!!I had people ask,, "why did you buy such a big truck with only one kiddo?" My reply was,, "because I WANTED to!!" I need to get some of those bumper stickers,, "Buy more hybrids, I WANT your fuel!"
No GOVERNMENT motors vehicles for me.
rented an Ex in 04 in colorado. 11 mpg v8 gasser.
Looked at used Expeditions but mileage wasn't that
much better than my tahoe.
decided the 6l in 05 was for me.
I tow sometimes and now i have
"The king of suvs" for anything.

. Showed her the Ex in Feb 2000; the rest is history

Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
I didn't always like the Excursion since I thought I liked the suburban better. At the time my brother (who is now an awesome and successful car salesperson) kept going on and on about it, how it was Ford's Suburban Fighter and had an optional diesel engine. I liked the idea of a Diesel Powered SUV, but it wasn't until I saw one in person that I was sold. My neighbor had a mid 90's suburban that he was always working on, something was always falling apart on it. He finally got tired of it, sold his suburban, and bought a 2000 Deep Wedgewood Blue, 2wd Excursion.
It didn't take long for me to notice his suburban was gone and he had a new truck in the driveway. A few weeks later, I was taking my dog out for a walk one morning and found him outside working in his yard. I started talking to him about his new truck and he got the biggest BSEG on his face. When I asked him about it, he too kept going on about how awesome it was; the power, the mileage, and most importantly the room.
My Father bought the truck I would eventually own, brand new August 27th, 2001 to replace the '89 Custom Chevy Van he bought new to haul us around as kids. As retarded as this sounds, it was love at first sight, it really was. My dad parked it in the garage, I got a chair, turned the lights on outside and in the garage, sat outside the garage, and couldn't keep my eyes off of her.

I didn't know it, but it was meant to be...... by 2003, my dad grew to hate the truck, I grew to love it, I ended up driving it while he bought another car and drove it instead. September 2003, I joined FTE and to this day it is the only vehicle I've ever owned.
I'm single, never been married, and don't have any kids, so begs the question: do I really need this truck and all this room?
Not really, it's just nice to have especially when you're 6'6, almost 400 pounds, and don't fit comfortably into much else.

The best part is that with this truck, I'm always and have always been prepared....
Whether the call of duty was to tow, haul people, haul a load, take me accross the state, from point "A" to point "B" or all of the above, The Excursion has always risen above the call and done it all without breaking sweat.
That is why I chose and continue to choose my Excursion forsaking all others
