We're picking our new tuxedo black superduty tomorrow and the dealer is trying to sell us a exterior, interior, and underbody coating for $1000. I've never had this done b4 and would rather put this money towards warrenties and accesseries. Just curious what you guys think. Thanks!
PS We live in Wisconsin and hope not to drive it much in the snow. This will not be our daily driver.
Don't do it! I'm 58 and have been in your shoes. They are trying to pad their profits. Keep your money and pay a local detail shop $100 - $150 to detail your new baby. I'm sure they want to scotch guard / treat your seats so they look new forever.... Horse****, they will hose you and laugh all the way to the bank!
The undercoating is personal preference. Get some quotes and references. I have been in purchasing for over 20 years and know that sales people in the automotive arena are slippery. Of course I'm biased because I really don't trust sales people. ( I'm trying to work on that through my personal development )
when I bought mine (used) the previous owner had had 3M clear bra material applied on the front part of the hood and all the lower rocker panels. It has really proved to eliminate chips in those pesky places where you are most likely to get them.
I would NOT allow a dealer to do this. You will find better pricing going to an aftermarket shop for application.
Anything that the business/finance manager is going to sell to you will be inflated big time, as others have said.
Also, for your warranty, you can buy them online (FORD ESP warranty) at any time before your 3 year/36k warranty expires. One of the site sponsors here sells them and they are a lot less than what a typical dealer would charge.
is it called Zurick? or something like that? If so DONT DO IT! My dad bought a 2012 Boss Mustang a few months back and the dealer conned him into it. He paid 400 for it and your never suppose to wax, or have to do anything to the paint or interior. Well The Boss is in a heated and a/c 30ftx40ft garage, it always has the car cover on it, its never driven in the rain etc and it still has water spots etc and the paint is no longer smooth like the day he brought it home. He called the dealer and they said he must have "hard water" and it prob ally removed the coating they applied. He was suppose to bring it back for a re coating but he said F it and now he just clay bars it, then wax's it and its never been better
