Sky SKY JASON what where your systems on the fan clutch., mine turns when starting truck (80 degrees here or MORE) don't know if its multi speed , but my friend builds air boat motors and says the fan has a thermocouple built in them and are a b#@$*. When changing my thermostat i use a modine brand and screened anti freeze with a cloth was pretty clean cloth was clean, fluid red like from ford anti freeze ,don't say much but not knowing if i still had water pump or internal radiator problems a complete flush is next the corner. Also have a super turner chip my truck, it is on stock and has been for the last
100,000 miles just to dam poor to play and wrenching is a last resort if possible. Coolant tank was madine?? from ford.
I ask about the anti freeze for a specific reason. I did some cooling system work a couple of years ago and I used the wrong anti freeze to top off the system afterwards. The two types of anti freeze mixed and gelled in the bottom of my radiator which clogged it partially and reduced my cooling capacity.
My symptoms were just like yours. First it would get kinda warm running the A/C. Switching the A/C off would help. Then after a short bit, I would have to run the heater to keep it cool. On level ground at steady speeds, it would do okay. Up a hill or at highway speeds and beyond it would get hot.
Well guys i think i finally think i am getting some where, removed clutch fan and radiator shroud water pump pulley to get to view the weep hole on water pump,(nice engineering, sarcasm intended) no evidence of water spillage ,feels smooth spinning freely but 1/64th inch play in and out.Clutch fan no sillicant leakage visible, real tight like a new one. Yea it WILL probably go bad next week.Pulled the bottom radiator hose to check coolant it didn't look bad was some what transparent in a 5 gallon bucket ,sweet like normal started to flush out radiator on top side maybe 1 gallon per minute and it was dribbling out on bottom at about 1 cup per minute.Pretty bad ,looking at fluid and the outside condition you would never know. I probably did like DUCK FAN i topped of with a different brand of anti freeze.I have used prestone since i can remember even topped off a GMC dully with 6,5 turbo diesel for year with no problem . I realize diesels need anti- cavitaional??(special) anti freeze but I was told by multiple auto parts stores that prestone was compatible with all types.Maybe I shouldn't say that, i bought my truck with 96,000 miles. and do have some calcium in well water, and never flushed out.I will say i flushed maybe a dozen gas radiators and its always nasty and hardly ever transparent, but hay what do I know i am just a 12 generation nursery man.:-Well thanks everyone for the great advise, i will keep you posted.
I promised I would post a pic of the notch I cut out of the frame on each side to get the brace over the intercooler out. The white spray is where I painted it after I reinstalled the brace to keep the rust to a minimum. Here is the picture. It is essentially the same spot on each side:
Hummmm. Where did this picture come from? A bit OT but I love my AR-15's

Dang. OK, first of all - I NEVER put anything but distilled water in my cooling systems. Gas or diesel. This includes flushing the system when necessary. I use a little different procedure than Gooch - but this is good advice: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...ml#post8935201
That thread compilation will also explain the benefits of using ELC - which not only lasts 350-500k miles or more, it does not require SCA's (the additive you have apparently not been using ). I don't remember if it is discussed in that thread, but cavitation in the cooling system basically erodes holes in the cooling jackets that can/do go thru the cylinder walls...
