I had a wire harness with a connector for each fog light. Didn't have to run any wires to the switch, they were already there... I cut the factory plug off, crimped a splice, and heat shrinked over that. You may have the harness there already, just plug and play.

My name is in my sig... Everyone should do that.

The Fogs were not avalable until 2001. My wifes 2001 Excursion did not come with them.

You could even go with a HID set up since your needing the bulbs, harness and such... Just an idea. I am NO fan of HID's but its an option.

Joe you seem to know your stuff on here, and you brought up the HID suggestion. No experience with HID except for the stock ones in my Toyota so adding them is something new. Since they are going to be on the fog lights, and run off of a toggle switch, can I use one of the 30-50 dollar kits im seeing off of Ebay? What im seeing there looks like it has the bulb and mounts into the casing, and I wont need to buy any of the stock parts from Ford, is this right? And im looking for the 9005 setup right?

Thats what I am thinking... Most of the HID kits out there use the factory wires as nothing more then a trigger.

Since you dont have the factory wires all you will need is a Key on power and a switch.

Thats what I use in my fog lights, the factory fog lights use a different bulb (cant recall the number) but there only 45w. The 9005 are 65w...

With the HID's you could more then likely just go with what ever factory bulb it calls for.

Well my fog lights are now 9005 bulb, with the 6000k color. Hasnt been night yet, but just shutting my shop door you could tell how bright they were. Ended up going with a kit off of ebay, and seems to work. The company sent 9006 bulbs to start, but quickly sent replacements after I told them. Since it is a 00, I had to wire it up. These are all plug and play systems, so I went ahead and got the pigtails from the local parts store so I didnt have to cut the ballast wires.

First I tried to wire it into my light switch, basically taking the power from the parking lights, to power the toggle switch, so those would have to be on to power the toggle. That was a no go. Had it all wired, tried it out, and the lights just flickered, causing the radio to do the same.

So I basically hard wired it. Got the constant power from under the dash, spliced into that so I didnt have to run from my battery, ran to the fuse, (tried a relay but couldnt figure it out), to the toggle, then out. All wire I took and twisted together with a drill to keep together (not tight) the heat shrinked it all. So what little wire you can see under the hood is black.

All in all, very simple, and we will see what the light output looks like tonight.

Thanks for all the info.
