Front Bumper Question

Well my stock front bumper on my truck has a little bend in it, so I was in the market for a new one. Today came across a, what I think is a hell of a deal, on a perfect condition front and rear bumper. It is a 99-04 setup, and seeing his truck ill say 99-02 because of the headlights. Well the only difference in his front and mine is his has what appears to have the factory fog lights. Mines a Lariat so I dont know if it had them and they were removed or if they were never there.

So my questions are, how were these things turned on from the factory? Is it when you turn the lights on you pull the switch out that turns it on? And the last, how were these things wired up?

Thanks for any input.

So if my truck happened to have them from the factory, I should have a couple wires under the bumper when I remove the old one?

Look at your light switch. If it doesnt have a fog pos, it does not have the fog light wires...

You can easily wire them up to a toggle, via a relay and they work great. This is how I have the fog lights on my wifes Excurion set up. Much brighter then the factory set up because there getting full battery voltage.

Got the bumpers hooked up. Guess theres a couple little differences in the front between a 350 and 250. Guess the 350 has a extra bracket with a couple extra bolts the 250 doesnt. Anyways thats hooked up and looks much better than mine did.

Now for the fog lights. These are what appear to be stock, but they are just the housings, no bulbs or wiring that goes to it. Is it going to be something I need to go straight to Ford to get, or are there other options for these housings?

Not a difference, just your truck was missing the parts. Its the side supports on the bumper.

The fog lights, just go to ford and get the plugs and such.

Mine may have been missing them, but this bumper had them, and they were a good 5 inches from where they would bolt up so im thinking they werent made for mine or something. Just cut them so the bottom piece would still be secured and let it rip.

Ill check with ford then, And research the bulbs and switches I want to use.

Ok called 4 different dealerships around me, and there telling me the only fog lights that came on the 99-04 are perfectly round. Is this right? And there also saying you cant buy just the bulb holder to splice in. Anyone have any way around this?

There all idiots...

They are not round, they are square... They have rounded corners, but I damn sure dont want to drive with "round" tires that look like these.

All you need is the socket and the male end... Autozone may have it... or some place like them.

Yea I figured they were. Even after they said there round I still asked for a price on the plug in the rear, and they all stated they would not sell just that part, you had to buy the entire setup. Guess Ill get to the local shops around here and see if I can make something work. If not then it will be junkyard time.

I mounted aftermarket fog lights into my bumper via the existing wiring, which turned on by pulling the headlight switch out. Can't attest to what trucks came with the option and which didn't. Mine is a 2003 fx4 lariat. Dad had a 2000 xlt 2x4, and to my knowlege it never had that option, although I didn't look specifically for that...

Yea mine pulls out, that what I figured it was for. Im going to be looking in to see if I can wire it up that way instead of adding a toggle switch. If not Ill do the toggle. Either way, there on this bumper, so might as well put them to use instead of pulling them off. More light the better down here.
