SSBC ?

I know the disc brake conversion on the 10.25 sterling has been tackled many different ways. wanting to keep it simple and effective I want to get the same calipers on my steers on the rear. not really wanting to spend a bunch of time hacking something together I called SSBC today to see if they could or have manufactured something along these lines. Well I honestly wonder how they are in buisness. No help whatsoever. Before I could even propose my idea i was basically told forget it, it cant be done. Ive seen plenty of disc brakes on 10.25 rears. if they work well or not, well thats the point of getting a weight rated caliper on it, so much for custom brakes from them.

I guess the market isn't big enough for them to bother.
But, I keep reading here that the stock drums are more than sufficient.

Why would you want the same calipers on the rear? Seems like that would lead to some brake-bias issues to me.

yeah, I imagine that there is not enough demand. Im also pretty certain that the drum brakes do the job well. they just hold mud water etc, I would want disk just for ease of service, cleaner look. I wouldnt change to disk to down grade braking ability, thats why I would want to use the same caliper as the front. which are large, these trucks are set up 75% front and 25% rear iirc. and as far as the brake bias issue, id imagine id would be remedied with proportioning valve of a newer super duty that is all disc or an adjustable one.

I'm saying that is no point for having the same size calipers on the rear, as the front. The rear is doing less braking and therefore does not need as big of calipers or discs.

I see what You mean, and It definetly makes sense. I could use a smaller caliper. but I do have a couple of these setting around. also a set off a 1/2 ton which i have considered. I like heavy duty, but what I figured would be slick would be walking into napa and getting eight of the same brake pads, same all the way around.
