Data Plate

I am looking at a 1956 f100 that is on original frame but data plate on cab was removed a long time ago. Is there a place on frame to get Vin number and get replacement plate? Is there a way to register the truck for the road or is it parts only?

Newbie appreciates your help!

The serial number should be stamped on the right side rail near the front suspension and under the cab.
