need brake rotor info

Looking at putting 3/4 ton 4wd brakes on an early bronco with dana 44, but i want to keep 5 lugs. Are the 8 lug rotors from 3/4 ton and 5 lug rotors from 1/2 ton offset the same from the hub mount face? are the hubs the same with different bolt patterns? or are there major differences that would keep me from doing this?

I'd keep the 8 lugs for big tire capabilities but i don't have the funds to buy parts to narrow the d60 rear that I have.

Although I can't help you (using stock parts), a quick question

with 8 lug front outers, all you need is a truck rear 60 to match, why not do that if you want bigger brakes?

I would make a trip to the local parts house and have them pull one of each and do some careful measuring.

Yeah. Went there and looked up the stuff on the computer. The dimensions have determined that I'm out of luck. So I need to move to narrowing the d60 w/4.11 gears which means I have to rehearsal the front.... boo. Too much money.

It depends on which vehicle the housings came out of. I'm not sure of the numbers but there is about a six inch difference between the early bronco and full size trucks. I am considering building some monstrous fender flares and using the wide axles that are geared alike but the wide d44 is a high pinion which means I need at least 3 inch suspension lift.... more money.

it seems you already arrived at your answer, but yes, the 5 lug offset are different than the 8 lug, but it wouldn't matter since the hub diameter is also larger. the 4wd supercabs essentially used the 8 lug leaf sprung axle but with 5 lug outers. You may want to try taking a look at those to see what they have going on as far as brakes. I think since the outers are essentially the same as the coil sprung 44's you will probably strike out there too, but it might be worth a look. honestly, though, while the hd44's brakes ARE bigger, the 1/2 ton's brakes should be plenty to stop any rolling stock you feel comfortable spinning on half ton hardware.

Thanks for info. I'm assuming you're talking about 1/2 ton supercabs? BTW the only reason I was going to use the big brakes is because I already own them...

Now.... where am I gonna find a supercab 4wd half ton?? Wish me luck.

you could post up on here, or just go to napa and tell them you have a 78 F150 supercab 4wd and you need a brake rotor. lol. number dummy probably can also tell you if they use a different part than the other 5 lug d44's.
