Matt will give you a good tow tune with a "race" tune. Only put the race tune on the truck when you won't be towing for a while. Otherwise I would stick to the tow tune. Should still be nice, but won't be crazy.
If I stomp on it, my fuel pressure will dip slightly even with a regulated return, so I don't really do that any more. For BIG power you need a bigger fuel pump and maybe bigger fuel lines (or at least upgraded banjo bolts) to protect your injectors. Towing too heavy with race tunes will kill your transmission. You still want to be pretty careful. - Dan
Despite my earlier post, I drive more conservatively than most. I like the increased power of a programmer just to add "drivability". I looked into adding the increased fuel capacity a few years ago, but balked when the price for new injectors and all neared $6k. That DID NOT include head studs which would certainly have to be done with that kind of setup. I'm not looking to race or sled, so I passed.
I hear ya - just trying to keep you safe. I think the studs sometimes make you feel safer than you are. If there wasn't so much temptation out there...
