I just got my truck back from the tranny shop and even though it goes now, it still shifts "weird" to me..thought that the previous owner may have had it chiped and not loaded factiry back to it?? Thinking that the problem may be in the computer, and was wondering if ford could reprogram it. Also, will it have any ill effects on any thing else?
i would recommend having jody tipton reprogram it. it will be much cheaper than at a dealer and you will get a better running truck with more power out of it

If it has an actual chip in it, physicaly removing the chip from the PCM will restore the factory settings. If, as you suggest, it has been programmed and the programmer did not come with the truck, then yes, the dealer or DP-tuner can reflast it.
If Ford does it you will not have any choice on what program is installed, they will use whatever revision is current for your PCM. If you go aftermarket you and the tuner can talk through your requirements and write a program specifically to address your needs.
