well i dont think its the flywheel either or at least i hope its not and i can turn the flywheel with a prybar so i dont think its that i have no idea whats going on with it that **** is making mad im gonna go get the batterys tested today i suppose but i really dont think its a bad battery but i guess ill find out
we know the starter gear must go into the flywheel gear (about 1/2"), otherwise the starter just spins, makes a grinding noise, etc,etc....my suggestion is to look (very close) for -anything- that "could" keep the starter away from the bellhousing / flywheel....maybe add just a little grease to the starter gear-on the gear teeth.....just a month ago I had a starter that somehow got a buildup of "crud" at the end of the starter-gear shaft - that kept the gear from going all the way out.(into the flywheel gear)....clean up & grease fixed mine......hope this might help...Jerry

i figured that would be my problem as well or at least somthing close to it but i went and bought a new starter and put it in and same thing happend....i just dont get it 6 months ago it was perfectly fine and i get back from my deployment and all of a sudden its messed up i mean it sat there for 6 months and got started by my wife every week i just dont get it lol
well finally got around to working on it again turned the crankshaft manually and i guess i turned it just enough to get some good teeth on the flywheel got her started twice then started grinding again so i turned it manjally again and again started twice then third time no go....goto replace it
That sucks, I was hopin it was gonna be dead batteries, in fact I woulda bet money on it. I was having 1 of those days myself.
I decided to pull my old 85 K20 plow truck in the shop today since 2 customers didnt show up for there appointments. Well last year the tranny cooler lines rotted, so I did temporary fix, fixed that, then the fuel line started leaking, fixed that, then the oil pan started leaking from a rust spot, went to back the truck out, and the shift linkage broke. Fixed that and parked it back behind the shop...so much for being proactive lol.
I hope it goes well for ya and sorry for the troubles.
yea iknow what u mean man my has so many problems i got to replace the o-rings in the turbo im getting a pretty bad leak and now my tranny is goin out dont know whether its the tq or valve body...im so tired of workin on this thing if it wasnt so badass i would just burn the thing lol and best of luck to u man
