I have been searching everywhere for a definitive answer on this, but I am grasping at straws. From what I have found, is that my 1994 F-150 has the Dana 44ifs.
I recently had my steering lock up due to a seized driver side u-joint, and decided to change it. After getting the axle shaft out, I noticed this seal had been broken into several pieces......QU40087 Ford Dana 50 IFS Left Inner Axle Shaft Oil Seal
Well I had to put it back together without it so I could get the truck home, and intend to install a new one when I get a chance. While I'm at it, I'd like to change the u-joint(s) on the passenger side also.
My questions are:
1. Does the passenger side have this same seal, which I would go ahead and order at the same time, and
2. How many U-joints are on the passenger side?
3. If the passenger side doesn't have the above seal, does it have one that is notorious for needing replaced at the same time as u-joints so that i don't have to dig into this over and over.
When you go to parts store, ask for two seals and 3 ujoints.
Let them figure out if its the exact same seal or different.
Not sure if all 3 ujoints are the same, but two of them are.

OK, I got the three U-joints already, and the seals would have to be ordered, the lady working the counter said it took two of the seals I posted a link to, but in the breakdown drawing of the Dana 44 it only showed it on the left side.http://www.supermotors.net/registry/media/72348
That diagram doesn't show the rest of the passenger side of the axle because it uses the same parts as the driver's side. So yes, you need two seals. If I'm in a city with several different parts stores, should one not have what I need I drop by the next one, usually someone has it on hand.
The seal for the passenger side is different because of the difference in shafts.
The seals for each side are depicted in the diagram however no part number is given for them.
One is shown simply as "Oil seal" the other has only an "arrow" pointing it out. Likely a page copy problem of some sort, scan of sheet perhaps omitted some of the original info would have been given on the diagram.
