This. And AFAIK, it's not a "sometimes" thing. I've had to uninstall/reinstall AE several times (reasons not related to AE), and every time, the comm is REAL flaky until I switch the "Initialization Type" to "Non-OBD-II...". Then it punches in like clockwork. After all, if our trucks were standard OBD-II, any old off-the-shelf schlepware or scanner would talk to it.
