Junker engine project?

Hey, Whats up people..... I am prepping to start working on a new project...

I am intending, to buy a junker 351m/400 with good compression and bulk it up....

In my project i am would like to have a hydraulic roller camshaft, performance heads an top notch decent priced rods.

What i would like to know is what is the best recommended by fellow ford enthusiast.

400 stuff

con rods. their are no simple upgrades for con rods that are cheap for the 400. but tim meyer sells a 434" with upgraded kit. usual situation is to ARP everything and polish rods of rough casting and shot peen. several good company's on camshaft applications. i use MPGheads.com custom cam grinder and decent on prices. cylinder heads and application for best reccomendations. several to choose from.

If nothing special is what you're after, you are on the right track.

So you want to make a V8 powered go-cart, using a 351M/400?

Good idea, horrible execution. You could go with a 302 and save weight, have a wider range of aftermarket products, and not have an overly large tube frame with a giant motor in it. The 351M/400 isn't a good choice for that kind of project at all.

However, putting a 351M/400 into a tractor is a much better idea.

Of course, a 460 into a tractor is an even better idea.

Call Oregon camshaft grinders they make they best cam. And custom. Just tell them what you want or give them I grind number. There located in Vancouver, Washington. You won't regret it. And it's a great idea! Thing would pull for days with all that torque and no weight. Put it in a trike. Me and my old man built a 347 stroked trike about 5 years ago. Took one run down the road and sold it to my buddy it was stupid fast. 420 hp to the crank. Also had an Oregon cam in her. A turboed vw is always cheap and fun too!
