Figured for those of you that helped or were reviewing my previous threads about my 00 F250 broken/bent pushrod issue id give you an update on my status.
For the past 3 weeks ive been absent at a school for my new mos, so ive made literally no progress. What I have determined though is that the #4 piston is definitely shot, its obvious by the amount of oil being pushed out, and this wasnt an over night thing, from everything ive seen and read and looked at on the truck the previous owner didnt treat her very good, so now im paying for it dearly (lucky i love my diesels because after the 6.0 i said this would be my last....clearly i was mistaken).
So ive started speaking to clay at riffraff and to a local but very trusted shop back home and narrowed it down to 2 choices. Either im going to go through clay, get all the parts for a complete rebuild and just bite the bullet, or my local shop back in ohio is going to go ahead and build me a basic longblock with a set of rosewood stage 1's and im just going to sell him my engine as a core. Depending on the price he gives me (im going to go with upgraded valve springs and a few other slight modifications as well) and how i price out at riffraff will determine which one i go with. Right now the only thing i have going against me is the stinkin' Marine Corps and them letting me use some of my 55+ days of leave i have amassed over the years just sitting there....rotting away because i NEVER take leave hahaha.
Hopefully tomorrow afternoon ill have made my decision and ill keep you guys posted here, and hopefully be doing a build thread soon .
Just wanna give a huge thanks to all the knowledgeable folks here on FTE who have taken me in (a refugee from another forums lol) and managed to teach me so much more in such little time.
Look on CL... You can find complete runners every day for less then $1500...
I know, its just that I cant justify buying something (unless your suggesting to buy a used one and do a rebuild) that I have no idea whats been done to it or how its been treated. My lack of luck on trucks along the way has taught me this, "saving money now will just cost more later". So if im gonna do it, im going to do it right, the first time, so HOPEFULLY its the last hahaha. That being said, im pretty sure my block is still good, just seeing which route is going to be the best bang for my buck. Ive found a few on CL that im seriously considering (some low mile wrecked trucks), just still in the weighing my options phase. Before i pull the trigger on the money bazooka i want to be 100% confident in what im doing, if you know what i mean.
edit--- and yea i ruled out a cummins swap real quick when my #'s starting hitting $8 grand, sorry guys
Depending on your location I have a solid lead on a complete running 97-98 E350 7.3 with 69,000 miles on the clock. The only thing you will need to swap is your turbo, ups and intake setup.
