I recently just purchased my first diesel in my 97' f250HD. I have already installed a TS 6 position chip, gauges, straight pipe exhaust to a 6" single stack, various upgraded lighting, K&N intake, all new bearings and manual lockers, a train horn, and finally I recently just paid to have the transmission redone with kevlar clutches, bigger valve body and pump, and steel planetary gears insted of the aluminum.
But, my question for you all today is that I am really thinking about installing a 4 in. suspension lift kit and I need to know if I will have to purchase a longer drive shaft. The truck does still have the dana 50 on there.
And lastly for all you out there that have installed a suspenion kit. Which brand do you prefer and why. And the same can go for tires. I was thinking 33s. Thank you all in advance.
Sounds like you don't mind throwing a little money at the truck to improve it, have you considered a Dana 60 solid axle swap (SAS)? That with a reverse shackle kit will get you up, though I'm not sure how much. The dana 50 is considered a weak link and with the mods you have done it sounds like you may want to do it up right the first time. There are a bunch of threads on here about how to do it. Do a search, maybe someone will provide a link.
I have been told about about the dana 60 swap. My cousin has done it first had to his. And I do plan on doing it down the road as well as a complete f350 suspension swap. But, I dont want to spend the money on an axle yet. So I was just looking for a lift and tires.
