So here is the issue....Degaus looks like it is puking antifreeze all over inside of engine compartment. Dealer did a pressure test, no leaks....I dont see any white smoke when matting it. It seems to be running rough now when i start it until it gets warm. I see nothing in the oil, it looks good. Thoughts? Is this the early makings of a blown head?
Sorry i failed to state earlier, I just had the EGR Valve at a cost of 500.00 on my way back from Sturgis, that sucked...Ok i will pop it and look in, what should i not see in there? I will order a new cap. Anything else?
I have blown head gaskes twice, one of the times I found out I also had two cracked heads. If you are puking out of de-gas its usually head gasket but not all the time. I think normal pressure in de-gas res. should be around 5 to 7 lbs. Each time i had puke conditions is was head gasket- (unlucky i guess). Do you have oil or fuel in the coolant system?
2005 Ford Excursion. I assume they did that, but i did not ask...sigh
Should be dry to a little oily but no coolant/wetness. If you can park nose down and let the truck cool a bit is best time to check. A lot of times exhaust will steam and smell like coolant if EGR cooler is leaking. Head gaskets can leak under high load-temp-rpm-boost conditions and not leak at idle. This usually happens in the beginning and gets progressively worse.
well were you using coolant when the EGR Valve wa changed???
If not Pull it again it could have failed recent even yesterday
A failed HG or Failed Will put pressure into the cooling system
The Diff is a failed EGR Cooler will usually cause white smoke
A failed HeadGasket usually Pukes and will have temp spikes but the temp spike will be hard to see on stock gauges
Hows the ECT vs EOT Deltas????
Time for a ScanGaugeII or something
I was using coolant when i replaced the EGR. No tuner, I do have a tester scanII. How do i check temp with that? I have white smoke at start up. I will pull the egr and see what i find inside.
Yes you would..... get it fully up to operating temps...get on a long road with a 65MPH speed limit and run for about 10 miles on sorta level road..... no mountains. Then check and note the temps for the oil and coolant.
Before you even start the truck for the first time tomorrow, put the key in the ON position (DO NOT START IT) and check the temps of the coolant and the oil then too....write down those numbers. (Lower right hand button on the Scan Gauge might have to bw pushed to turn the SG on.)
