I have one bolt hole that's stripped out on my injection gear housing and I was wondering .
Are the holes blind or are they open inside the gear housing . I'd like to run a tap through the threads and try to get the bolt to tighten down a bit ....
I should say that the stripped bolt hole is one of the 2 bolts that holds the injection pump bolts to the gear .
The only reason I ask about this is due to the town I live in doesn't want me to work on my diesel so I have to do any repairs quick and dirty in the back yard , or drive it ten miles one way to do any major work ( pita) big time.
2 week ends ago I had to replace the head gaskets in my 7.3 in which time I discovered the stripped gear housing and a broken rocker arm . Dispite what the town says I intend to repair the rocker arm and the bolt hole ....*****
I don't think it's illegal yet to work on your own vehicle! I'm sure the big 3 would support it though! I've lived in apartments where they diddn't want you to. As far as the stipped hole I don't know if it's blind or through but I do know heli-coils work well.
I realize cops in small towns are not ones to F with but surely you could talk to someone.
Zoning guy is an idiot . I intend to work on it anyway , pulled up close to the house in the back yard , you'd have to go out of your way to see me doing the work .
This town is screwed up . It's a long story but my neighbors are cool except for one and that's all it takes ..
It's registered in my name . I use it to do mobile repair .
So if Used in a business then " I'm running a business from my home , in a residential area" .
It's a bunch of crap I'm told that I can't maintain or work on my truck in my yard if it's used for " business " purposes .I don't really care what they have to say .
This all started last year when I was working on my father inlaws crown Vic . The zoning guy showed up and says , you can't run a repair shop out of your house !
I'm like woe , this is my father inlaws car . You telling me I can't fix his car ! It's not like I have a freaking sign out on the street and anyone who stops by is getting a rebuilt car . So I hide the truck in the back yard and work there . 3 weeks ago me and a buddy swapped out a leaky radiator in the back .
Honestly I feel like fine , if they don't want me to work on the truck in the yard then I'll do it in the back where it isn't as obvious but I'm not going to stop . I pay rent and town taxes so too bad for them .
