390 cubic inches equals 6.4 litres.

The term "small block vs big block" is more applicable to GM products. For example, the FE engine series ranged from 330 cubes to 428 cubes depending on bore and stroke combination.

What would one call a 351M and 400M? Both are based on the same block but with differing internal components but contained within the same engine architecture.

Other common equivalents:
302=5.0l
351=5.8l
360=5.9l
400=6.6l
460=7.5l

Rule of thumb (rough estimate) is that 1 liter equals 60 cubic inches.
