Well i was playing with a friends scanner. I got my 06 F250 warmed up and took it for about a 20 minute drive. My EOT stayed about 222 while my ECT was at 174. How bad is this? Does this point to a clogged oil cooler?
Also, i had:
FICM logic power- 12.98V
FICM main power- 49.92V
FICM vehicle power- 12.98V
Is this about normal for the FICM?
There was also a U1900 code: CAN communication bus fault recieve error. What does this mean?
If temps are correct (check sending units like he said ^^^) you need a new thermostat. The TSB test technically isn't valid unless the ECT is 190*+, but with the EOT hanging out at 222* it's not a promising outlook for the oil cooler.
Thermostat replacement. ECT needs to be 195 iirc before checking EOT. 20 min of driving should have got you up to full temp. At 222 on this test it ain't lookin good for your oil cooler.
If you can, check EOT/ECT/IAT cold (parked overnight) to verify sensors are reading correct before condemning oil cooler.
FICM looks good but batteries or charging system may be a little low.
Original batteries are getting weak. They are going to be replaced. Have had a couple of " hope it starts" moments... I will check those sensors out in the morning and report back.
Pretty sure I'll be tearing into this thing in the next few weeks for studs and what not. ELC coolant and a new thermostat is on the list.
The U 1900 code is above my pay grade right now but it's obviously a data error of some type. I would hit the "clear codes" button and see if it comes back. Sometimes that data stuff just is just a glitch. Have to do some research if it's re-occurring. If your code reader supports freeze frame data (temp, rpm speed etc. when the code was set) make a note of it before clearing the code. If it does come back that info might help chase the problem down.

My Ex has typically started instantly on cold mornings after letting the fuel pressure and glow plugs do their thing. But starting last week it had that
"weak battery" kind of slow crank and it took +/- 5 seconds or so to fire.
I got two new batteries (Diehard Platinum) on line sale Saturday with
additional $40 off code ($177 each) and now it springs to live in the
mornings again.
It's been 55 degrees here. It's not cold enough to affect a decent battery once it was to the point where it killed them enough before it started to shut off all my accessories. They are coming out very soon.
Well I took the truck to work today, a 45 minute drive down the highway. The ECT never got over 180 while oil got to about 212-218. Where's the best place to get a thermostat? Will a parts store be sufficient?
I got mine at Ford and the price was not that bad $30ish.
That was with new housing and gasket. All I had to do
was un bolt the old one and bolt the new one back in.
But what ever you do get it changed so you don't
have other problems from the temp being too cold.
Well I looked at the sensors after 26 hrs of sitting. After glow plugs cycled, EOT was at 97 and ECT was at 70. Why would the oil temp be reading so high when it's only 66 degrees here?
