bed rail replacement question

Hey guys I'm planning on replacing my need rails under the bed. I'm thinking of removing the bed then flipping it over and having my welder replace the trails. My question is had anyone ever done this and how'd you flip it without damaging the bed?

you can flip it up on the frt panel with the back in the air. we do this in the shop from time to time.

Yeah it's not hard... I just put a few pieces of wood down and layed the bed on them.

Not too hard.

Pull the bed.

Stand it on end. Easy to work on.

Thanks guys this helped alot! Now the only question is where do you buy new rails? I found them on a Ford dealers site a year ago but now they don't have then listed, i also called my dealer and he said they don't sell then separate only the floor pan comes with them. My pan doesn't need to be replaced. Does anyone know where to get rails?

You'll probably need to make your own channels or have a metal shop do it for you. I haven't measured them myself but they might be about the same dimensions as some of the furring channel (available at construction supply stores).

This thread had photos at one time...I am not sure what happened to them but they were really great shots showing the entire process.
