I have done alot of reading on this site and many other powerstroke and ford forum sites. Seems tho I keep coming across people that are dealing with steering issues that have lifts or 37in tires. My case isnt such. I have the stock ford 20in wheels with normal tires, nothing fancy. Now I know the steering is going to be different from the 1500 sierra due to the amount of weight in he front end. But I find that its stiff, i guess would be the word. It returns back to center and drives straight when Im on a level road, hard to find where I live. So what could I do to get it to drive like a 1500. BTW its has the 6.0 in so I know thats a lot of weight in the front. When I looked at the fluid it was black and hot so I couldnt check the level cause it says full level cold. and the truck has 51000 mile. if i need to flush the steering fluid can somebody get me a good link. i looked at one yesterday on how to do it and the guy hooked up a 3/8 hose to the brake booster and then pumped the brakes and turned the wheel and then keep adding fluid to make sure he didnt run out and get air in the system. and then ive seen some people that just suck the fluid out of the resovour and then go back in a month or so and redo until they get all the crappy fluid that was in the lines.
Do both. Suck out the old fluid, top it up with new, and pump the brakes until new stuff is coming out into whatever line you put onto the return. It'll take 5ish quarts of synthetic ATF. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...ml#post7143824
No, because the steering boxes on these truck are sloppy in general and it'll never drive like an IFS half ton. But you said the fluid is black, so beating on the box with the bad maintenance stick isn't helping anything. That hydroboost unit also affects your brakes, so it's not worth the risk to not change the fluid out.
O ok. Yea i just got the truck lol so im trying to show it some love just have to wait until i get tge money. I have to do the coolant flush oil n oil fikters fuel filters steering fluid n coolant filter. And then ill get to doing the egr delete gauges straight pipe
