thanks sean. i hope to post more than hello's and thank you's here. i agree it'll be easy to get to 25 posts in no time... i want a little more though. i had a great shop in kodiak to work at. low cost, heated, and all the space/tools i needed to do the job. it was a MWR facility on-base. here in SanFran, i don't have that. just a paved parking spot with a barbed wire fence for security. i could tear into my rig but others may help themselves tearing into it to (theft). i've already had my batteries stolen. crazy bums...
i really try to avoid going to the dealership for maintenance and troubleshooting. the problem is i don't have the nicest place to do any work...
thanks again for the welcome from SoCal. i'm excited to take the ole Snow White on some road trips. yosemite, vegas, oregon, and tahoe.
If you don't post for over a year, I will drop you. Other than that once you join, you are a NorCal FTE'er for life, unless you violate any of the FTE rules regarding harassment of other members.
Oh, and I almost forgot the quickest way to get dropped (other than taking yourself out) is to say anything bad about my SF Giants! (jk)
Happy Thirsty Thursday, going to be 90 degrees today. And someone told me 2 weeks ago that fall was here. Boy were they wrong.
BD well you have already posted more than the last 6 people who I approved early! Should be no problem getting to 25.
I am sure one or two of the members who are in the SF bay area would be willing to help you with any work you need done on your truck if needed. We have a great bunch of guys in this chapter.
We don't have too many get-togethers though for a variety of reasons, the main one being that we are scattered all over NorCal, but also I am unemployed, and don't want to schedule one I can't attend myself. Then of course, is the high cost of gasoline.
yea! thirsty thursday! i've posted several times in other threads... i'm just curious to know why my ticker number hasn't increased about 15? i don't think i need to create threads right? posts, replies, and new topics all count i thought. when i was living in south florida i missed any get-togethers the FTE So.FL. chapter had. when i lived on kodiak island there certainly weren't any of them either. it makes sense here. its just a huge vast area with millions of people all spread out. one of the pilots at work has an 7.3 excursion (idk what year) and i'm not sure if he's on here or not. so, in the mean time i'll just keep an ear to the ground and try to strike up a conversation next time i see a 7.3 driver.
the old NAS at alameda has HUGE hangars for rent/lease. those would make a great shop. i found an article online written back in '98 when prices were $.50 a square foot for the place. no telling how much they want now. i found a cool restored building in downtown alameda for 2.2 million. that simply is not going to work.
enough rambling for now. you guys have a good day!
Jim- thank you! i'm reading up on the 50 cent mod. i've got the next two days off so i think its time to pop the hood, pull the valve covers, throw a quarter in there, and check the torque on some bolts... i'm sure if anyone here has advice on the project they'll chime right in.
