Only have one pair of shorts, and they are actually swim trunks, so I don't wear them that often. Have not been outside much lately anyway. No money to go anywhere. Overcast here at the moment, they are claiming a high here of 73 degrees. Hopefully, we can make the farm today.
Thought I'd update you all on the radio install project on the '99. Had to modify the opening in the dash for the radio by removing the inner flange. Not too difficult with the dremel tool. Wired in the harness into the stock radio harness...again not too difficult. Re-connect the Neg Batt terminals and the alarm goes off and I can't turn it off. Key fob remote doesn't work either. Thus begin 10 days of searching back through what I've done to make THIS happen. I end up focusing on the alarm system itself to find that the "Valet Switch" had failed and the alarm module shut down. Now what? I'm 85 miles from the nearest Ford dealer, and I'm not hot to tow the 7500lb truck that far. So I began searching FTE and anything else that I could find relating to these security systems. I thought I'd have to replace the alarm module if I could even find one for a 13 year old truck.
FTE to the rescue...While doing a Google search I noticed that most hits directed me to the FTE forums. One to the FTE Expedition forums had the answer I was looking for:
Re-initialization of the "Ford Security System 6"
1. Disconnect Batteries and wait 2 minutes to allow the module to
discharge.
2. Turn ignition key to "Run" position.
3. Reconnect Batteries (Alarm may sound)
4. Turn ignition key to "Off" position
5. Press "Lock" on the driver's side switch.
This completely solved the problem.
Oh yeah, Love the new Sony AV controller. I also added XM radio and Bluetooth to the package.
Anyway Once again I am overwhelmed by the vast knowledge and the willingness of those with this knowledge on FTE to share it with the rest of us. Because of this I have become a Supporter, and I recommend this to everyone. Thanks FTE
