no throttle response

my truck started right up this morning!
it revved right up on the way to work
but....at the 1st stop sign
it did not want to come out of idle
even with pushing the gas pedal to the floor
it just kept idling for about 5-10secs
and then....slowly....began to rev up
and finally did and then ran fine

any ideas about this problem?
thanks
dave

poor quality pedal made by a subcontractor.
the recall was around 3-4 years ago, and for i believe the 99 to 03 7.3 trucks.

What year is your truck? You can replace the Throttle Position Sensor on 99-2000 IIRC. I've replaced mine with a Dorman a while ago. I believe it was somewhere around $45-$50.
Two little bolts and a plug and your back in business.

truck died today

was headed home to eat
i drive flat and level for about 10 blocks
then pull a gradual hill for about 1/4 mile
was running great until 1/2 way this hill
when it just idled down even tho i was giving it gas
it idled for about 5 sec then died

sat for about 1 min
and after shutting off and restarting about 5x it started
sounded like it was running on 1/2 the cylinders
then smoothed out
and i made it home

now what?

Hutch / harpoon mods need to be done. Pickup foot is either missing, cracked, or your screens are clogged.

Have u checked your oil level? Low oil level with cool weather could cause your issue as well.

i'll check the oil level later tonight when i get home

is the pedal recall still good?

also, it sounds like the throttle position sensor is bad
according to the s + s of my truck
so will probably just order one and replace it

did the later trucks have the postion sensor built into the
accl pedal?

also i found this great thread on this topic

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...ensor-fyi.html

Try the search bar...
Also... one of the first 2 links on this forum are common technical tips that have been gathered... look for the hutch and harpoon mods.

Easy, cheap, effective.
