he fixed it, replaced it, the clutches and bearings, he stated that the ring and pinion showed some wear but since I dont really haul alot I opted not to fix that part since it was going to be another $1000 to fix that

Well I am glad you got it straightened out. But what has me puzzled is how you broke it??? Not saying it is your fault but it isn't that easy to break a Dana 80. Burn outs or reverse drops with a dually could do it, not that you would do that to your truck. What did your uncle think happened??
He said the same thing, burnouts or running low on fluid. I havent intentionally done burnouts when in the rain some times when Im on a hill the wheels will slide but now I will be more careful. Thats what baffled me out of all the vehicles I owned this is the one I treat right and end up getting hurt the most in the wallet. Unlike my past vehicles Ive dogged them and they keep wanting more.

LOL I hear what you are saying about these trucks. They are like a high maintenace woman, you treat them to alot of TLC they'll treat you good. You neglect these trucks they will poop all over you just like a high maintenace woman.
So don't worry just keep throwing $$ at your truck and at some point she will be good to you. I know it isn't fair but I seem to have the same luck. I fix one thing and 2 more things break.
The truck I had before Blackie was a 89 F150 that I beat to death and it just keep going 200k. It was a good old truck and it didn't care if drove it hard and put it away wet. I had spent less than $1000 in 15 yrs on it to keep it going. Now Blackie has cost me at least $3500 in the last 2 1/2 yrs. plus more hours than I care to count. But I do love my truck way more than I ever did the F150.
