Mechanical things have slight variations in manufacturing process no matter how much they try to make every single one identical. Maybe a few of the 6.0s were legitimate lemons. I bet there were a few lemon 7.3s as well. It also depends on what you do and how you maintain it.
I'd take a 6.0 that's been properly taken care of any day. Of course, with my luck, I'd be the first one to break it.
