Hey everyone I'm new on these thread just looking for some help figured this would be the best place to get it.
I have a 99 Explorer 4.0 SOHC, I have a problem with my temp gauge reading hot... My car is not overheating the air and heat works fine... I replaced the thermostat and the Sensor but the gauge still wont come down. BTW all other gauges work just fine.. Can anyone help with this I just lost at this point.
The factory service manual lists the location for the engine coolant temperature sender (for the gauge) as center of engine, behind alternator bracket. It will have two wires in the connector, a red/white and a black/white.
The Engine Coolant Temp Sensor will also have 2 wires to the connector, a light green/red and a gray/red. It is located at the front of the engine, left of the throttle body.
So how "hot" does the gauge show and how long does the cold engine have to be running for it to show hot?
