The only trail breakage for me was a punctured diff cover ~7 years ago (backed into a stump ) & a flat tire a couple of weeks ago. It had had a 1/2" bolt in it for a couple of weeks that I didn't know about. I almost lost the rear brakes last week from running over trees (my favorite thing ), so I guess all of those are "rear axle".
As for "breakage" in general, other people's trucks. My brother was going too slow on the trail so I "nudged" him a bit. Took out his tail light and fender.
Had a clevis on a tow strap hooked thru a hole in the frame and the frame gave way. Shot the clevis into my cousin's truck and wiped out his tranny cooler line and starter. Thank God it went UNDER the truck.
I haven't yet had the chance to break anything on my ford, but on my old 80 Ramcharger, I accidentally left the E-brake, on and threw it in 4-lo, and snapped the driveline tube as if it were a twig, I gave it a little gas and heard a small clunk. A few weeks later I traded it for a boat and a motorcycle.
my U-joints go perty good when i lay onto it in the mud (but lets see 1/2ton u-joints stand up to almost 350lbs' of torque ). But i have fixed yokes so its realy easy to change and i keep extras for front and back (2each) in my toolbox. I dont brake anything else becouse i just run 33s. and if im on the road its only 30s
the lousy trac loc in my 8.8 axle.....i'm on rebuild three and it blew up again today. I think i'm upgrading to a eaton posi, i wanted to order a elocker, but their not available. NO ONE has any in stock and everyone tells me the same thing...eaton isn't sending us any.
