I just went out and saw a 1987 F150 with a 5.0 liter engine and a 3-speed transmission with granny gear. I was just wondering if it was a good buy at 4000?
I give all my vehicles female names. My truck is named Charlene.
after a time when my 'gal was looking through the phone book on my cell, and she saw my friend charlie's name in there she suddenly burst out 'Who the hell is Charlene??????!!!!!!' Well, now I got a name for my truck, she laughs at it now. I have thought about getting a personalized license plate for her CHRLNE or something, but, then again you got a plate with a girls name and a guy behind the wheel.....oh well..
My 90 is usualy called "The Pig" for its lovely 7mpg, and its not so fun street handeling. She sways pretty bad with the 6 inch suspencion and 3 inch body lifts.
The 85 is usualy called "Tank" unless somthing is wrong with it. We wont even get into what I have been calling it for the last 2 days after I shot the center pin through the diff cover. Oh well, its as good of an excuse as any to change to a 9 inch
My Dad ordered his 1987 F-350 Super Cab with silver on metallic black two-tone paint and a red interior. When the truck finally arrived, he proudly drove it home to show it off to the neighborhood and everyone was so impressed. The color scheme made it look like it ought to be driven by a chauffeur, rather than Dad.
So imagine his surprise the next day when somebody pointed out that his big, shiny new truck was "dog-walking" down the road. He took it back to the dealership and, sure enough, the frame had been torqued in transport. A short time on a frame rack and the truck was good as new (which it was).
On the way home, it suddenly came to Dad what he should name his new truck: "Bentley."
BTW: Bentley has just turned over 100K miles and is still in excellent shape. Dad and Mom are on their way back up to Alaska right now with him.
Not my trucks name, but I was working pit crew at a mud bog for my buddy two years ago and he drives a purple chevy mud runner. I was in charge of submitting the entry form and he was quite surprised when over the load speaker they introduced him as "puffs purple pride" The name has stuck with a few add ons as well. lol
