My truck is named "Billy Mac" after the pal at work that I bought it from. 135,000 miles and still going strong, albeit with a serious case of cancer on the box. The underside holds some of the world's best farmland, too.
My old Ranger was called the Rebel Rider b/c I had a dixie horn in it.
My 79 will be known as Rebel Rider II b/c it will have the dixie horn too. Along with my gigantic "Imports Suck" sticker in the window.
78 Ford F150 put a 460 in and called it the "BEAST" w/ dual 3" headders - high flow mufflers and streight pipes back below the rear bumper. Also had the name "White Lightning"
93 Ranger had a license plate that was LBC so I started calling it my "Little Beast Cruiser"
My 86 Bronco 6" lift and 35" BFG Muds - "Scrap Metal" or "Big Ol Pile O Scrap"
Current:
My wifes 97 Expedition - The Station Wagon - She HATES that one... So I use it more often...
Getting Rid of:
My Jeep 99 TJ Sport 6" lift 35" BFG Muds - TONS of mods... - the "MONEY PIT" - I had over 13K just in mods to that thing...
I recently donated my '55 F-100, Carlos the Wonder Truck, to a local charity, he was a good pal and tidy little home for me and the missus during our vagabon/ Dead tour days. I couldn't bear to try sell him and endure the slings and arrows of potential purchasers. He used to be just Carlos, but after breaking two 223's, which left us stranded, and led to excellent adventures and new friends both times, we added the Wonder Truck part, as we were always wondering if we would make it to where ever we where heading without blowing another $50 engine. Finally swapped in a 302/C4 from an old rusted '68 Merc convert we named Althea, we bought her in New York and drove her home to Oregon, and then traded for an electric guitar, try that with bus tickets. Anyways, traded the guitar back for Althea, rings and a crank kit for the motor, and Carlos the Wonder Truck was our home for another sixty thousand miles or so after the change to Althea power. Kinda miss that truck, have yet to name the '62 unibody I am playing with now.
I was calling mine Black Beauty, but with the way I roll, it don't stay black long, now that I have a big sticker in the back window that says FREAK & looks like the FORD emblem.......everyone started calling it THE FREAK TRUCK...my hubby calls it THE BUS.
My truck is one of about 3.5 million trucks named "Old Blue". I had planned on giving him a far more original name, but after about 50 tries to get something to stick, I just call him Blue.
My 84 F150 is known around town as Chromed to the Nutz because it has lots of chrome on it but is still tasteful. It got this name when my sisters friend saw it and said wow that things is Chromed to the Nutz.
I am trying to come up with a name for my 79 F150 but haven't thought of anything yet, maybe something to do with its 3/4 ton like characteristics.
I have left the job of naming our 4wd's to my daughter who is 6 years old, thus My Jeep CJ has been dubbed "Clifford" as in Clifford the Big Red Dog, my wife's '91 Blazer K1500 has been nicknamed "Eeore" from Winnie the Pooh fame, and my F250 S/C 4x4 has been saddled with the moniker "Grey Whale". Not sure what her reasoning is on that one, it could be because the Ford F250's so big & not very manuverable compared to the Jeep or Blazer, or somehow related to some wildlife show she has seen not sure at all.
Sometimes it can be hard to follow a childs train of thought, but that's half the fun anyway.
My '72 F-250 Camper Special has had a rough life, but he's still pretty danged stout and strong. It amazes me how primitive everything is ... like an AM radio... or wipers that have two speeds and a switch that's about five feet away from the steering wheel. In short, he's big, strong and not too bright. The name "Brutus" just seems perfect.
2001 F-150.......Names "Tinfoil"...........by the way it has a 4R70w
transmission......Just changed the fluid at 46,000 mi and very little
clutch material....nothing to be scared of or steer clear of here!!!
